
Work with Yunxuan: Courses, Writing Support, and Research Assistance
Yunxuan has over eight years of teaching experience, working with beginners as well as university-level students. Her training spans roles from teaching intern to university teaching assistant, alongside many years as a private music instructor. She has taught the following courses:

- Music From and Analysis I, II (East China Normal University, 2020-2023)

- Private Piano Lesson (2017-2021)
She now offers online private lessons in music theory, ranging from basic theory, harmony, and counterpoint to musical analysis. She also provides support for music history courses. For advanced learners, she offers consultations in a wide range of analytical and research approaches, including transformational theory, tonal and post-tonal analysis, Schenkerian analysis, as well as guidance in music research and academic writing.

Academic Writing
With extensive experience in academic writing and a strong publication record, she provides effective guidance for students beginning to write music research papers. She specializes in early-stage idea development, peer-style feedback, and structural revision suggestions. To date, she has assisted over 20 students in clarifying their arguments and improving the quality of their writing, often contributing to excellent academic outcomes.
Bridging Chinese and North American Music Theory Learning
For students newly transitioning from Chinese institutions to North American programs, she offers tailored support in navigating differences in music theory pedagogy. This includes translation and explanation of key terms, reinforcement of foundational concepts, and supplementary explanations of course materials in ways that connect with students’ learning backgrounds. This approach helps student adapt more smoothly to a new academic environment.
Research Support and Resource Navigation
Yunxuan has extensive experience in music scholarship research and resource collection. She has built a comprehensive private database of music literature and is skilled at locating hard-to-find references. She is also experienced in using AI tools to support research processes. If you are exploring a particular area in music theory or music history and need help identifying relevant sources, she is happy to work with you to expand your research toolkit.
